La Toja Shaving Stick Review

Posted on December 18, 2015October 4, 2017 By Drew

La Toja Shaving Stick Review La Toja Shaving Stick Review

This is not the first time I’ve written about the La Toja Shaving Stick.  You can read that here.  Yet, I figured since I’ve been using this soap so much lately, the shaving soap deserved its own review.

The first thing about the La Toja shaving stick you might overlook, but shouldn’t, is the packaging.  In spite of the price, a fair amount of thought went into the manufacturing of the container.  From the vent holes at the top, to the secure fit of the soap in the base.  This tube is well-made and contributes to the enjoyment of use.  This may not seem like a big deal, but have you ever tried shaving with an inferior product? Perhaps a shaving soap that was too small for its own container?  Or a shaving brush that kept losing its bristles?  Quality packaging can be the difference between a good product and a great one.

I love the scent of this shaving soap too.  While it’s not the strongest or most complex scent in my shave den, there’s just something about it.  La Toja has an old world European fragrance with a mild blend of lavender and powder.  The refinement in this fragrance far outweighs the price tag.

The performance of La Toja’s shaving stick is outstanding too.  My method in using this shaving soap is quite simple.  First, I wet my face and the shave stick. I follow that with a quick run over my face with the soap.  Finally, I take my damp shaving brush and build the lather onto my face.  I have found a brush that holds a lot of water works best with this soap.  Lathering takes only two to three minutes, but the resulting product is quite exceptional.  Besides being easy to build, the La Toja lather is slicker than most.  This isn’t just a great travel soap or a great shaving stick.  The La Toja shave soap is an exceptional shaving soap that is one of the best I’ve used all year.

Regards,

Five of the Best Shaving Soaps and Creams for Fall

Performance is and will always be king when it comes to evaluating shaving soaps and creams, but, for me, a close second is fragrance. Shaving is a sensory experience. The feeling of the blade just barely scraping the surface of my skin, the precision of finishing off the tough spots,…

Recently one of the most popular posts I wrote has been a look at some tools for guys with thinning hair. I figured it was time to take another look at some tools I use to keep my hair under control.

The Sudsy Soapery Citrus & Bay Shaving Soap Review

Posted on August 10, 2016October 4, 2017

At this point in the year, it seems like summer is winding down. Back to school commercials are running, baseball players are tearfully retiring, and Brett Favre is jokingly (maybe?) offering his services as quarterback. In truth, we are actually only about half way through the warm weather. I typically use bay rums in the summer, so I figured this was a perfect time to review the Sudsy Soapery “Citrus & Bay” shaving soap.
